Happy Valentine's Forever...

"Fly Me To The Moon" performed by Olivia Ong.

The process of collapsing all my blogs into this blog has been completed. I've now cleared away the extraneous stuff not directly related to songs/poems about Trinbago. I have moved those posts to a new group blog. The INDEX [See linked tab at top of page] is finally up to date. Some of my interests have been taking me down another path for a while now and this blog cannot serve all so I will write elsewhere and preserve this blog as an archive of songs for the visitors who continue to search the site for songs about Trinidad and Tobago. It has been a pleasure to transcribe and organise these works. I cannot promise to post with any regularity in the future but if I come across relevant songs I will try to include them. I have moved the list of Trinbagonian blogs/sites that used to be on the right sidebar over to the left sidebar. The blogs which I list at present represent only a fraction of the Trinbagonian blogs available. I will no longer actively search for those that have eluded my notice.

You take care of yourselves and I will meet you again and again and again in all the ways in which it is possible for the spirit of an expatriate to return to his/her roots.

I have always wanted to be yours and my Valentine's message today is, as always:

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.

Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.

Mweh ka allay!

You've created a fantastic resource in this blog, and I think some day it will be recognized as such (if it isn't already).

Guacara Dreamtime is gone? It was a special place and I will miss it very much, even though I didn't comment often. (Your insights and reasonings were always so profound and crystalline that anything I had to say would have been trite and clumsy by comparison.)

Is 1D4TW yours? It has a different energy, the warrior coming to the fore. Different times, different weapons? Wishing you all blessings, and protection.

Liane and Angie, thanks for visiting and your comments. Angie, I didn't change the blog's appearance much, just cleaned up a bit. Hope you had a great Valentine's.

Liane, your comments over time have been a great source of encouragement so don't you dare apologise for the times when you did not comment. But you must never, never again have the fear that your own thoughts could be viewed as "trite and clumsy." I am really saddened by that revelation because more than anything else, I longed for the communication, the dialogue. I never thought that my insights were profound or crystalline, or more so than those of anyone else. I am always working through things, trying to arrive at an elusive clarity and the thing that I lack, the thing that I feel could bring me closer to achieving it, is the thing that escapes - community. Many of us don't feel comfortable "thinking together" and there is an insularity that has been transposed to the blogosphere. Have to think about it some more. Anyway, this is NOT Goodbye, just a break to experiment with other things and I will continue to visit your blog and the others that I read and drop my bird "blessings" every now and then. Continued success!
Ayo!

Sorry Liane, I forgot to answer your question. 1DFTW is not my blog. It belongs to Maximilian Forte, whose main blog is "Open Anthropology". I find his ideas very interesting.

Cliviaalana, thanks so much for visiting and especially for your kind comment. I'll continue to post here, just not as often. Don't miss me too much because I might be tempted to stay away just for the attention. ;) I am still here and you are always in my heart. As you'd understand, when the "sound track" changes, it's an invitation to learn new moves. I will never be a stranger. Power to your blogs. I promise to visit more often.
Blessings

Namasté

Liane, Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving this thought-provoking comment and the benediction of your "Namasté".

We all try to reach for it but the truth is a scattered thing and there is the limitation that I mentioned earlier. You, Liane, hold your own fragment of it in your hands, and each Trinbagonian is holding a piece. If we cannot communicate with each other in a meaningful way, those of us who are honest should feel very shy about continuing to make declarations from imperfect knowledge or bias or just from positions of comfort. I am not saying that we should be silent. I am saying that we should be asking each other the really important questions and persisting until we get the unrehearsed answers. In the past I would have been contented to return to the sanctuary of my mind but I have spent enough time in there to know that the whole truth is not to be discovered where I am and it is certainly not what I can claim to speak. There is just so much work to be done.
Blessings always.

I had only very recently discovered your blog.

I was happily surprised to come across that level of intelligent thought, widely gathered information and your writing style. I was looking forward to reading you regularly, so I am disappointed that you will no longer be posting frequently.

All the best.

Dear Louis, Thank you for dropping by and leaving such kind comments. I am not going away forever. I just won't be using this blog for posts that do not directly address the songs/music/poems. I will probably create another blog to host the posts that I removed from this one. The focus of future posts on that blog will not be limited to things Trinbagonian. Until then and beyond we will continue our conversation on your very interesting blog - "Hopscotch".

Louis, thank you so much for contacting me both on and off this blog. Everything that you've communicated has been received with deep appreciation. I won't be a stranger!

I won't miss you...because I know I will be reading you elsewhere on the Web. This has always been a great blog, and Guacara Dreamtime was a particularly special blog. You have killed some of my links to your former posts, that I regret. I have always said so elsewhere, and I continue to say so: you were one of my early inspirations in blogging, and I am especially thankful for the chances we had to collaborate.

See you soon, let me know where you end up please.

Max, Thanks for your visit and very generous comment. I'll still be here and I promise that when I create something else, I'll let you know. Sorry about the broken links. I will republish all the missing posts at the other space. Cursum perficio.

WOW. You have done a fantastic service. Transcribing these lyrics really demonstrates your dedication to the art form and most importantly it reveals the tremendous oratory talents that exists among our artistes.

Ronald, Thanks for your visit and kind words. You feel what many of us feel. I think we need to value and encourage the writers who persist, despite all the odds, in producing songs of substance, songs that encourage reflection and critical thought but also give pleasure because of the perfect combination of superior lyrics, music and delivery.
