FREEDOM
By Shadow

Chant:
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]

All I need is some freedom, to help me through this world
Give me little bit of freedom, to help me soothe my soul
To much corruption in this world of man
I'm in misery, so please set me free.

Chant:
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]

All some men got to offer, is just what they don't need
And I rather to suffer than to live in lust and greed
There is always fight, whether day or night
Like the peaceful way gone on holiday.

Chant
:
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]

Every day there is sadness, tears of sorrow are shed
Oh, how I long for some gladness to cool the heat in my head
Too much corruption in this world of man
I'm in misery, so please set me free.

Chant:
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]
[Oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh, oh ah ah eh]

Although it is my intention to faithfully transcribe I do not get all the words and I have a knack for hearing the wrong thing. A Note From The Gull

Thank you, Shadow! I found this song at the right time. Although I often advise people to be alert and pay attention to what is going on in the world around them, there is a price. When you keep your head down, you enjoy blissful innocence, that is, until the world decides to crack your bubble and wake you up. Until then you are allowed the luxury of being genuinely surprised that there is so much wickedness around. I am sad not just because of the wickedness but because it no longer surprises me.

The thing is that through all this bother of "awareness", I realise that I would put it all behind me just to find myself back in my mother's kitchen sitting on my favourite low bench, listening to her voice and chatting happily with her while enjoying a bowl of her steaming hot cassava strewn with freshly chopped chives and shavings of butter rapidly melting over it all. I know that this is why I get so distressed when the thought of losing my homeland's simplicity/innocence comes to my mind.

We all dream of homecoming, including those who are remain uncomfortably at home. In the mean time, life goes on and we continue to make our nests somewhere between the reality and the promise of T&T.

"Every day there is sadness, tears of sorrow are shed
Oh, how I long for some gladness to cool the heat in my head."

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.

Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.

Mweh ka allay!
