Come To The Quiet [Song]

There was a time when this song was my anthem. I share it with you today because recently I have found myself returning to it. Even if apart from any religious belief, I think that when we are besieged we can appreciate the benefits of making time for stillness. It is sometimes the only way in which we can begin to work our way through a state of emergency to a state of emergence into hopefully a calm wisdom and rededication to the task at hand.

Psalm 131 [Come To The Quiet] – John Talbot

Lord, my heart is not proud,
Nor are my eyes fixed on things beyond me.
In the quiet, I have stilled my soul
Like a child at rest
On its mother’s knee.
I have stilled my soul within me.

So Israel, come and hope in your Lord.
Do not set your eyes on things far beyond you.
Just come to the quiet,
Come and still your soul
Like a child at rest on its daddy’s knee.
Come and still your soul completely.

Although it is my intention to faithfully transcribe I do not get all the words and I have a knack for hearing the wrong thing. Please feel free to correct me or to fill in the words that I miss by dropping me a message via e-mail. I'd be forever grateful. Thanks in advance!

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.

Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.
