THAT'S HOW CHRISTMAS USED TO BE
By Marcia Miranda

From since I small everybody making fuss
To celebrate, have a good time for Christmas
But I notice recently, nobody doh come by me
Like they stop making merry
This isn't how it used to be.

I want all mih friends to come home by me and lime
We jamming the rhythm, drinking and feeling fine
Then we make a spin and check out everybody
I tell you, that's how Christmas used to be.

Bring it out, bring it out!
Doh try to hide the rum at all
Bring it out, bring it out!
Is Christmas, we bound to have a ball
Bring it out, bring it out!
Whether is morning or afternoon
Bring it out, bring it out!
We jamming bottle, iron and spoon.

Dem woman say dey can't take it anymore
When parang pass, dey does scratch up all dey floor
This thing spoiling the Christmas
Causing dem woman to cuss
They better put back linoleum
Leh we prance and have we fun.

I want all mih friends to come home by me and lime
Jamming the rhythm, drinking and feeling fine
Then we make a spin and check out everybody
I tell you, that's how Christmas used to be.

Bring it out, bring it out!
Doh try to hide the rum at all
Bring it out, bring it out!
Dis Christmas, we bound to have a ball
Bring it out, bring it out!
Whether is morning or afternoon
Bring it out, bring it out!
We jamming bottle, iron and spoon.

Bring it out, bring it out!
Doh try to hide the rum at all
Bring it out, bring it out!
Dis Christmas, we bound to have a ball
Bring it out, bring it out!
Whether is morning or afternoon
Bring it out, bring it out!
We jamming  iron, bottle and spoon.

Bring it out, bring it out!
Bring it out, bring it out!

I tell you straight, this year I cannot afford
To buy curtain, paint up house and all dem ting
Wash and put back the old one
Clean mih house and when ah done
Take the rest of the money
Just to buy food and drinks for we.

Is Christmas, we bound to have a ball
Bring it out, bring it out!
Whether is morning or afternoon
Bring it out, bring it out!
We jamming iron, bottle and spoon.

A Note From The Gull

Thank you, Marcia Miranda.

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.

Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.

Mweh ka allay!
