The Way (Unity) [Song]

Uploaded by Edward Spencer

THE WAY (UNITY)
By Brother Marvin

The time has come to give unity a chance
Grab this opportunity before it's too late
In our long years of Independence
At last we came up with such unique mandate
History, everyone say, history, world class, talking 'bout true world class
We have the chance to show all and sundry what's a true democratic country
Hand in hand, we could take this nation to heights unknown
Where we could stand proud and say, "T&T is we own!"

Forged from the love of liberty, one goal, one people, one identity
If we really want to aspire to build a rainbow empire
Side by side and with pride we must pray together
That way we go stay together, harmoniously love together in unity
That is right road for T&T.

Never listen to prophets of doom
Your country and your fellow men, they must come first
For pettiness and grudges, there is no room
Appreciation for all we must rehearse
We doh want no racists to make it their business to charm we into enmity
As long as things doh go in their favour,
They make statements I view with horror
They say, "No Indian could run this country for we."
Well, I'll tell you as man, I have a solution. Hear me.

We go take all dem racial neemakaram
Send them on a one way trip to oblivion
Then the true Trinbagonian, those who really care 'bout this nation
Go come together and pray together
That way we go stay together, harmoniously love together in unity
And that is right road for T&T.

Ethnicity should be something of the past
A feeling of patriotism must be at heart
Racism and hate is not of world class
These are ugly monsters that will block our path
This country - paradise T&T,
This society could be the world's envy
Come, let us build a solid foundation
To create a nation of nations
Time to get rid of all ------------- let good sense prevail
So that the young ones to come, they would follow the trail.

Oh, islands of the blue Caribbean Sea
Now is the time to enhance your beauty
For unity to last in this country
We have got to make it a duty
To come together and pray together
That way we go stay together, harmoniously love together in unity
And that is right road for T&T. Hear me.

I have a dream I know will come true
The Indians, Africans, Chinese and Syrians
Carib and Arawak - the remaining few
And douglas will walk this blessed land, hand in hand
No division, no reservation, proudly and with dignity
Dedicating our lives to this country
Oh, how glorious that era would be
But the time is ticking away like a metronome
So let us be colour blind and make this a better home.

Oh, in the fires of hope and prayer
Now is the time to make sure we get there
There could be no success without problems
But we owe it all to the children to come together and pray together
That way we go stay together, harmoniously love together in unity
That is right road for T&T.

The Unity Song [Song]

THE UNITY SONG

Bringing back the dream of making T&T one again
We want unity across the land
We want harmony across the land
Across the land, across the land.

Unity all across the land, harmony is now at hand
As the world watches on, all races live as one
Unity across the land
One love and the brotherhood of man
Unity across the land
One home for the brotherhood of man.

Bringing back the belief of making T&T one again
We want true unity across the land
Real unity across the land

And may God bless our Nation.

Two Is Better Than One [Song]

TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE

By Sheldon Blackman
Album: One Big Fat Love Bomb

Where is the fire, the fire in my people?
Where is the fire, the fire in my people?
Where is the fire, oh God!

Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one - the strength of few could mean that of a nation
Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one...Oooh yeah, yeah, oooh yeah, yeah, yeah
Oooh yeah, yeah [Oooh yeah, yeah]
Oooh yeah, yeah [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]
Oooh yeah, yeah, [Oooh yeah, yeah, oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]

When you walking with your load, don't be ashamed, seek help, my brother
When you walking with your load, don't be ashamed, we need one another
When you walking with your load, don't be ashamed seek help, my brother
When you walking with your load, one is a flame but two is a fire.

Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one - the strength of few could mean that of a nation
Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one...Oooh yeah, yeah, oooh yeah, yeah.

Where is the fire, [Oooh yeah, yeah] the fire in my people? [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]
Where is the fire, [Oooh yeah, yeah] the fire in my people? [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]
Where is the fire, oh God? Where is the fire, oh God?

Just as Christ took hold of the cross - soon came a man to give him a hand
Just as Christ took hold of the cross - soon came a man to show us a plan
To understand... Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one - the strength of few could mean that of a nation
Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one...Oooh yeah, yeah, oooh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Two is better than one and a threefold cord is not easily broken
Two is better than one - the strength of few could mean that of a nation
Two is better than one... Oooh yeah, yeah, oooh yeah, yeah, yeah

Oooh yeah, yeah, [Oooh yeah yeah]
Oooh yeah, yeah, [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]

Where is the fire, Oooh yeah, yeah [Oooh yeah, yeah]
The fire in my people? Oooh yeah, yeah [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]
Where is the fire, Oooh yeah, yeah [Oooh yeah, yeah]
The fire in my people...Oooh yeah, yeah [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]
Where is the fire, oh God? [Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah]
Where is the fire, oh God?

A Note From The Gull

Thank you, Sheldon Blackman! You and your family are blessed and you have magnified both those blessings and their Source.

The message of the song is based on the following verses from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
"9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken
." SOURCE

If you are interested, you may listen to Ecclesiastes, Chapter 4, read by Max McLean.

This song is dedicated to all my country men and especially to the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. There is wonder working power in respect, in collaboration, in real unity.

"Two is better than one - the strength of few could mean that of a nation."

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.

Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.

A Note From The Gull

Thank you, Machel and Drupatee. This performance is still electric after all these years and the message of unity is timeless!

Aap jaisa koi meri zindagi main aaye to baat ban jaye
Ahaan baat ban jaye
If someone like you enters my life,
Then everything will be fine for me
Har kisi ko chahiye tan ka milan
Kash mujhpar aaisa dil aapka bhi aaye
Everyone wants physical attachment
I hope that your heart will also feel like this for me.

Red, White and Black [Song]

Uploaded by Trinnilicious4life

RED, WHITE AND BLACK
By Gary Jackson (2012)

Spoken: This is what I meant when I gave the nation as its slogan for all time: Discipline, Production, Tolerance. Our national flag belongs to all of us, our national coat of arms with our national birds. Inspired therein is the sacred trust of all our citizens. So it is today, please, I urge you, let it always be so. Let us always be able to say with the psalmist:

"Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity."

Words of the founding father. Yeah, gimme the music!

Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black

Oh yes, I remember liming on the main road whole night
Me, you, Chin and Dougla, everything was all right
All this talk I hearing lately 'bout racism and ethnicity
Can't destroy the love deep inside of me
For my beautiful twin island, Mother T&T.

Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T.

T&T, T&T, children of mother T&T

So much to unite us and bind us as one people
To me it's more than obvious, we are inseparable
Ain't nobody like we, J'Ouvert morning, come, you go see
No race, no class, no envy
Is pure love, children of Mother T&T.

Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T

Oh yeah, oh yeah!...

Let me tell you the only way to go forward
Is to love one another, love one another... oh yeah
Love one another, love one another.

Let's take Trinidad and Tobago higher.

Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T

On this grand occasion, fiftieth anniversary
Time for deep reflection as we celebrate the journey
Kaiso, steelpan, chutney
Crab and dumpling, pelau, roti
Laventille or Caroni,
Pure love, children of mother T&T.

Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black
Gimme the red, white and black, Mother T&T

T&T, T&T, children of mother T&T

Spoken: I know we may come from different fathers but that is no reason to keep us apart. Trinidad and Tobago, it's time that we start. We heading for a new future and we could only do that together as one people. Mother Trinidad and Tobago, love you! Yeah, yeah! Mother T&T, T&T, T&T, children of Mother T&T. Blessings!

We The People [Song]

Uploaded by kaiso22

WE THE PEOPLE
By Crazy

In Trinidad and Tobago politics was We and Them
That was never meant to be so according to the anthem
But ethnic insecurity was maintained to divide us
By some people in the country to sow the seeds of distrust
But we have brought a new system within the community
Now what used to be We and Them, has now become only We.

From now on this nation is We, from now on it is You and I
From now on it is unity, from now on we flying high
All the races have come together to build a better country
And create a brighter future for the whole society
The We and Them thing is no more because it is plain to see
In this country from shore to shore, the community is We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We, We, We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We and We and We and We.

Some ancestors came from India and some came from Africa
Look, today their descendants are here coexisting together
There are others who came here too - the Chinese, Syrians and such
Native people are just a few in this land that we love so much
But the politics of the day and the love for a party
Cause people to begin to say, Them is Them and We is We.

From now on this country is We, from now on we all shall be One
From now that's how it shall be, from now on all division done
As today united we stand the people of Trinbago
One country, one nation, one island, chutney, pan and calypso
It's Trinidad and Tobago, better known as T&T
And we want the whole world to know we see ourselves as We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We, We, We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We and We and We and We.

Mother Africa and India in this nation is no more
And Mother China done disappear, gone away for good, I'm sure
If we want to build a relation, there can be no We and Them
In spite of ethnic persuasion, all should fit in the system
Side by side, we stand hand in hand within the society
This fair paradise island because you and I is We

From now on Laventille is We, from not on race do not matter
From now on We means unity, from now one we are together
They cannot divide we again 'cause we enter a new era
United we shall all remain, looking out for each other
Eric tell we, "Massa day done", today it is plain to see
Today a new paradigm has begun and that paradigm is We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We, We, We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We and We and We and We.

Some politicians have tried their best to keep we subdivided
As they policies would attest, and now we are united
Using that old colonial scheme, they sought to divide and rule
Because if we are not a team, we are more easy to fool
Look they had us fighting each other, causing misery and pain
Now all these times are gone forever ------ ever again

From now on Trinidad is We, from now on one philosophy
From now on Tobago shall be, from now on standing equally
No more African, no more Indian, we shall all be citizens
Forged together to build one nation, though we are different persons
Done away with the We and Them in this land of La Trinité
Whenever we sing the anthem, from now on is only We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We, We, We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We and We and We and We.
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We, We, We
No more We and Them from now on, this nation is We and We and We and We.

National Unity [Song]

NATIONAL UNITY
By Mighty Chalkdust

After the election, I went to London
And if you hear how much questions I get from Trinidadians
Chalkie, your new government of the UNC
I hear that they invent national unity
If you see how them Londoners jumping and praising Panday
You mean nobody in the past couldn't do that? they say
I had to tell them wait is true Panday preach unity
But the idea, my friend, didn't originate with he, no siree
Kaiso Spektakular was preaching unity
When we brought in Rex West and Drupatee and Rikki
Kaisonian Nelson, he made the same plea
When he sang "All ah we is one family"
When the Lord Shorty paid tribute to Indrani
And Sundar Popo was singing "Nana and Nani"
All these songs prove naturally, that years ago in T&T
Kaisonians preached national unity...yeah
You forget how much money Manning pay to --- Lenny Saith family
So Panday ent start national unity.

I told them Londoners that Mister Panday
Has my congratulations for the part he played
As a politician, he saw the need
For unity in the nation that he chose to lead
I told them Londoners, we want unity in the region
Not only in our land but throughout the Caribbean
That's why when they talk 'bout Bajan invasion, I does turn red
Them Bajans could only invade we when me an Cro Cro dead...nuff said
When we see black man spinning in the Oval
And white man Jeffrey Stollmeyer was batting...unity
When them cricketers took a pause for tea
Africans in the Oval eating roti and talkari
And look how we Trinis adopt the Chinese game "Whe-whe"
And Brian Kuei Tung hug up Manning and then kiss Panday
Kuei Tung actions show clearly that some politicians already
Practising this national unity...yeah
You forgot Eric Williams marry Mayleen Mook Sang, the Chinee
So Panday ent start national unity.

I told them Londoners that in my country
You'll find Chinee children calling Africans, Daddy
It have some Chinee men making roast bake better than me
It have African women who could teach Indian to make roti
I told them unity start with Butler and Cipriani
When Butler brought Stephen Maharaj and Rienzi in his party
And when the police were looking for Butler in 1940
Is a Chinee hide him in a Indian house in Caroni...unity!
When I see Keith Shepherd and Mister Rafique Shah
Editing the Mirror newspaper together
And when I see black Rastas living in Felicity
And planting their ochro, their baigan and bhagi
And when I see Indians living in Felicity
With dougla children eating roast bake and hanging Christmas tree
And Syrians and Chinese today eating callaloo on a Sunday
Then I know unity has come to stay...yeah
Lloyd best marry a white lady, turn round and marry a dulahin
That's what I call national unity...I lie?

I told them Londoners that in any country
It's the culture bearers who does bring unity
Men like Mighty Trini, the calypsonian
Even the young ----- and John Agitation
For when an African take part in East Indian culture
Or a Syrian or Chinee do the crossover
What they are doing, my friend, is pulling races together
Like a ----- Indian dancer or Miss Denyse Plummer... you see
When that man from the South brought Guinness Cavaliers in town
Indian like peas, join in the Panorama
And when Jit Samaroo pioneered his steelband
He proved that pan belongs to East Indian, just like Africans
But when Mister Panday ban Jones Madeira of the Guardian
Some say that was racism and discrimination
But we are so united that right now, man
Look Panday and Jones Madeira from the Guardian
Both of them clapping Chalkie in the Grand Stand...uhm
You forget is me, Chalkie, who sang "Ram Kirpalani"
So Panday ent start national unity...Is all ah we!
