SUHANI RAAT DHAL CHUKI
Performed by Mohd Rafi
From the movie: Dulari (1949)
Suhani raat dhal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
The beautiful night has slipped away, don't know when you will come.
Suhani raat dhal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
The beautiful night has slipped away, don't know when you will come.
Jahan ki rut badal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
Throughout the world the seasons have changed, don't know when you will come.
Nazaarein apni mastiyaan dikha dikhaake so gaye
The sights have shown their beautiful effects and are gone now
Sitaarein apni roshni luta lutaake so gaye
The stars shone and now are no more
Har ek shamma jal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
Every light got lit, don't know when you will come.
Suhani raat dhal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
The beautiful night has slipped away, don't know when you will come.
Tadap rahe hai hum yahan
I am in dreadful pain here
Tadap rahe hai hum yahan tumhaare intezaar mein
I am waiting desperately for you here
Tumhaare intezaar mein
In wait of you.
Khiza ka rang aa chala hai mausam-e-bahaar mein
The colour of spring is almost here in the beautiful season
Khiza ka rang aa chala hai mausam-e-bahaar mein, mausam-e-bahaar mein
The colour of spring is almost here in the beautiful season
Hawa bhi rukh badal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
The winds have also changed directions, don't know when you will come.
Suhani raat dhal chuki, na jaane tum kab aaoge
The beautiful night has slipped by, don't know when you will come.

A Note From The Gull
Thank you, Mohammad Rafi, for your beautiful rendition of the song, "Suhani Raat"! I went looking for it after the author of this article mentioned it being sung. I had never heard it before and I can never turn my back on an opportunity to be introduced to a new song.
"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.
Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.
Mweh ka allay!
