TRINITY
By Creig Camacho
In a land not far away, you'll meet an old retired soldier
Who left his home searching for an answer
He says, Lend me your ears and I'll tell you 'bout my islands
Where the trade winds sing, the people are the dancers.
A place where citizens are proud as they are free [proud and free]
The common factor is a strong unity
With every colour, creed and race, they live as one
Breathing, living under the sun.
I remember the day so clearly, off for school at 7:30
Breaking biche at the periods after lunch
Heading straight for the Oval with Big Bird start his over
And Blue Food blowing shell like a champion
Hit the Savannah for oysters when the cricket done
A coconut water, next a real nice cold one
I must get a roast corn on the highway back to South
The Trini people know what I'm talking 'bout
Crab and dumpling in a Store Bay, doubles down by the Croisee
Sucking sugar cane when you peel it with your teeth
Sancoche Saturday evening, black pudding Sunday morning
Macaroni pie and stew make your lunch complete
Parang and pastelle, Christmas time is here again
With garlic pork, ham, sorrel and the ponche-a-creme
Any time is a good time for a box ah dead
November 19, check out the Sea of Red.
Wo-oh oh oh my Trinity, beautiful islands in the Caribbean Sea
Wo-oh oh oh my Trinity, wait for me, don't leave me
'Cause I'm coming home real soon.
[Wo-oh oh oh my Trinity, wo-oh oh oh my Trinity.]
Television as a youthman, checking all your favourite programs
Mastana Bahar, Best Village and Play Your Cards Right
Your kick-up flicks with your old man, starring Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan
Excitement start from the time time they turn off all the lights
Castor oil from your mother when your tummy hurt
Licks from your teacher when you ent do your homework
Riding on your chopper trying to catch the girls
A Trini woman - most precious in the world.
Waiting months for the Carnival, the time of year is so crucial
Hugging and drinking with people that you never meet
The J'ouvert mas' is a killer, not to mention Panorama
And Peter Minshall bringing splendour to the streets
Toilet paper flying high in Skinner park
Cheering on your choice for Soca Monarch
Come Ash Wednesday, is back to work to again
Don't worry, be happy, soon is a long weekend.
Wo-oh oh oh my Trinity, beautiful islands in the Caribbean Sea
Wo-oh oh oh my Trinity, wait for me, don't forget me
'Cause I'm coming home real soon.
[Wo-oh oh oh my Trinity, wo-oh oh oh my Trinity.]
Source: The lyrics posted on this blog are often transcribed directly from performances. Although it is my intention to faithfully transcribe I do not get all the words and I have a knack for hearing the wrong thing. Please feel free to correct me or to fill in the words that I miss by dropping me a message via e-mail. I'd be forever grateful. Thanks in advance!

'Cause I'm coming home real soon."
'Cause I'm coming home real soon."
"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.
Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.
Mweh ka allay!
