ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY TWO FRONT TEETH
Performed by Amanda Salloum and friends
Every body pauses and stares at me
These two teeth are gone as you can see
I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth, my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth,
Then I could wish you "Merry Christmas."
It seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,
If I could only whistle (thhhh)
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth, my two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth,
Then I could wish you "Merry Christmas!"
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth,
Two front teeth, two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth,
Then I could wish you "Merry Christmas!"
It seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,
If I could only whistle (thhhh)
So all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth, my two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth,
Then I could wish you "Merry Christmas!"
I could wish you "Merry Christmas!"
I could wish you "Merry Christmas!"

N.B. The lyrics posted on this blog are often transcribed directly from performances. Although it is my intention to faithfully transcribe I do not get all the words and I have a knack for hearing the wrong thing. Please feel free to correct me or to fill in the words that I miss by dropping me a message via e-mail. I'd be forever grateful. Thanks in advance!

I remember the song as 'All I want for Christmas ARE my two front teeth'. This is gramatically correct because the song title is a classic example of the subject following the verb instead of preceeding it.
Turn it around to 'My two front teeth are all I want for Christmas' and the clash between the noun 'All' and the pronoun 'I' is removed.
I realise that 'is' fits the modern fad to construct verbs in the singular when the subject is plural but I ask how the song was written? I have seen one old copy that uses 'are'- did the confusion exist at the time or have the words been changed later?
Oh,look what you've gone and done! Old grammarian, how will I ever be able to sing this song again without feeling compelled to lower my voice when I get to this point???
I have no idea what was used originally but from my own experience, I have always heard "is" being used. I'm guessing that we do not see an error because "All I want", in other words the only thing that I want presents a singular subject, and the linking verb "is" agrees with this singular subject and not its complement "two front teeth." I am neither a young nor an old grammarian so you've certainly given me something to think about.
I promise to add another comment if something more definite comes up but I feel that many more will continue to use "is"...If grammarians say that it is wrong, I will be among those arguing that it's what the little child said and we just have to be faithful to that version!!
I found the sites below which mention "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"
