De Profundis [Song]

De Profundis | Uploaded by Jean-Louis Gosselin

By Arvo Pärt
Based on Psalm 130:1-8

De profundis clamavi ad te Domine | Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O Lord
Domine exaudi vocem meam |  Lord, hear my voice:
fiant aures tuae intendentes | Let Thine ears be attentive
in vocem deprecationis meae | to the voice of my supplications.
Si iniquitates observabis Domine | If Thou, Lord, shouldst mark iniquities,
Domine quis sustinebit | Lord, who shall stand?
Quia apud te propitiatio est | For with Thee there is forgiveness,
et propter legem tuam sustinui te Domine | and by reason of Thy law I have waited for Thee, O Lord
sustinuit anima mea in verbum eius | my soul hath relied on His word;
Speravit anima mea in Domino | My soul doth wait for the Lord,
a custodia matutina usque ad noctem | more than they that watch for the morning,
Speret Israhel in Domino | Let Israel hope in the Lord!
Quia apud Dominum misericordia |  For with the Lord there is mercy,
et copiosa apud eum redemptio | and with Him is plenteous redemption.
Et ipse redimet Israhel | And He shall redeem Israel
ex omnibus iniquitatibus eius. |  from all his iniquities.

A Note From The Gull

Thank you, Arvo Pärt.

I understand that the chaos is never random or coincidental. Cogs and wheels are turning without fail behind the backdrop. Many citizens try to minimise their participation in the destruction but because we are all creators of our society and we are also products of imperfect environments, we each play our part in keeping the wheels oiled towards both positive and negative ends.

Hope persists because more often than we admit it [we tend to give the bad more prominence than the good], we continue to be blessed by the persistence of goodness in our midst and the continuing generosity of our abused natural environment

In our society, for better or for worse, we do not have one religion in common and we have not yet put in place an overarching humanism or a system of social justice that will step into the breach to preserve us from the lack of conviction of the best and the passionate intensity of the worst of ourselves.

My naiveté continues to leave me swinging between deepest disappointment and highest expectations so it is best that I continue to say as little as possible except that I love you and hope for a better day for us ALL.

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.

Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.

Mweh ka allay!
