MURSI AND SURMA TRIBES OF THE OMO VALLEY, ETHIOPIA
Over a period of three years, the photographer, Hans Silvester, visited nine times to photograph their stunningly beautiful body decorations and in 2009, he published many of his photos in the book - Natural Fashion: Tribal Decoration from Africa.
We can remember a lot from the Omo tribespeople of Ethiopia who create adornments from natural paints made from pulverised minerals [red ochre, yellow sulfur, white kaolin, white limestone and grey ash] and botanicals. Bring on the flowers, leaves, branches, seedpods, fruit, seeds, horns, bones, shells, feathers and skins! I applaud the artistry, the sourcing locally of raw materials, and the environmental and cultural friendliness of these creations.

"Patria est communis omnium parens" - Our native land is the common parent of us all. Keep it beautiful, make it even more so.
Blessed is all of creation
Blessed be my beautiful people
Blessed be the day of our awakening
Blessed is my country
Blessed are her patient hills.
Mweh ka allay!
